What is Hodgkin's disease?

Hodgkin's disease is a rare type of cancer found of the lymphatic system. It is characterized by its orderly spread to other lymph nodes, and can also spread to the lungs, liver, and bone marrow. The purpose of the lymphatic system is to protect the body against viruses and bacteria. The exact cause of Hodgkin's disease is unknown. Hodgkin's disease gets its name because it was first described by a British physician named Thomas Hodgkin.
